BOSNIAN PRESIDENT HARIS SILAJDZIC ENDED HIS FIVE-DAY VISIT TO MALAYSIA

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (July 2,2008) – During the last day of his official visit to Malaysia, the Bosnian President Dr Haris Silajdžić visited the Museum of Islamic Arts in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur today.

His host was Tansri Said Mukta Al Bukhari, a benefactor of the museum and a great art lover. He is the Al Bukhari Foundation President, which provided scholarship for the Bosnian students in Malaysia.

In the Museum of Islamic Arts, there is a permanent exhibition of various historical periods and from numerous countries.

After that, President Silajdžić visited the Petronas Twin Tower, the largest twin towers in the world. Their host was Datuk Nasarudin Md. Idris, the Vice-President of the Petronas Corporation.

The Petronas Towers have 93 floors, 86 of them are being used as headquarters of numerous companies, business spaces, shopping centers and the headquarters of the Petronas petrochemical company, after which the towers were named and which invested in their construction. On the 42nd floor, there is a bridge that connects the two towers. Setups of the Petronas towers and of the city of Kuala Lumpur are on the 88th floor, as well as numerous photographs depicting the course of the construction and the formal opening ceremony in 1996.

One tower was built by the Japanese companies and the other one by the Korean companies.Both towers were designed by an Argentinean architect. The Petronas Towers are tourist attraction and people from all over the world come to see the biggest “twin towers” in the world.

At the end of the official visit to Malaysia, a farewell meeting with the Malaysian King Yang Di Pertuan Agong was arranged for the Bosnian President Dr Haris Silajdžić in his residence Istan Negar.

After the meeting in the residence, the Malaysian King Yang Di Pertuan Agong, President Silajdžić greeted the honorary unit of the King’s Guard at the farewell meeting and anthems of Bosnia and Malaysia were played afterwards, which completed his official visit to Malaysia.

BOSNIAN PRESIDENCY MEMBER HARIS SILAJDZIC DISCUSSED POLITICAL SITUATION IN BOSNIA WITH SEVERAL FOREIGN DIPLOMATS

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (February 22,2008) – A member of the Bosnian Presidency Dr Haris Silajdžić met with Said Nasser Mansoor Al-Sinawi Al-Hartly, the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Bosnia.

Dr Silajdžić also had separate meetings with Zulkifli Adnan, the Ambassador of Malaysia to Bosnia, Bullent Tulun, the Ambassador of Turkey to Bosnia and Raffi Gregorian, the International Community's First Deputy High Representative in Bosnia.

During the meeting, they talked about the current political situation in Bosnia and the region.

Besides that, they also talked about the state of the Bosnian economy , as well as the possibilities and the perspective for the following period.

All conversationalists agreed that besides all pressing issues in Bosnia, the priority is signing the Stabilization and Association Agreement with the European Union,the Cabinet of Bosnian Presidency Member Dr Haris Silajdžić said in a press release.

RADMANOVIC AND ADNAN DISCUSSED COOPERATION BETWEEN BOSNIA AND MALAYSIA

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (February 16,2008) – A member of the Bosnian Presidency Nebojsa Radmanovic met with the Malaysian Ambassador to Bosnia Zulkifli Adnan.They talked about bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and expressed the need for improvement in relations, especially in economic segment.

Radmanovic expressed hopes that bilateral relations between Bosnia and Malaysia will be improved in the future.

He stated that Bosnia's interest is to strengthen cooperation with Malaysia in all social segments, from politic to culture, and especially economy.

PRESIDENT KOMSIC MET WITH NEW MALAYSIAN AMBASSADOR TO BOSNIA ZULKILFLI ADNAN

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (January 25,2008) – The Bosnian Zeljko Komsic met in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo with new Malaysian Ambassador to Bosnia Zulkilfli Adnan and received his credentials.

President Komsic emphasized that political relations between Bosnia and Malaysia are extraordinary and that the time has some to develop economic relations.

He added that Malaysia has significant investments in Bosnia and that some of them have not been completed still. However, both countries are interested in a better economic cooperation and in that sense, he said, Malaysia can count on support of the Bosnian state institutions in the sector.

”Although Bosnia may at times appear complicated, it is not. There are no dilemmas in Bosnia – this is an independent and a sovereign country and its place is in the EU”, President Komsic said.

Ambassador Adnan agreed with President Komsic’s attitude that economic relations between the two countries need to be improved. He promised full support in realization of improvement of economic relations.

He stated that 150 Bosnian students studied in Malaysia in the past few years and that 164 experts from Bosnia have undergone training there.

President Komsic expressed gratitude to Malaysia and its people for helping Bosnia.
