LOW-LEVEL ECONOMIC RELATIONS BETWEEN BOSNIA AND JAPAN

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (August 1,2008) - A member of the Bosnian State Presidency Zeljko Komsic and Japan’s Ambassador to Bosnia Futao Motai said after a meeting in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo that the political relations between the two countries were excellent, as opposed to economic relations, which were still on an extremely low level.

Ambassador Motai congratulated Bosnia on signing the Stabilization and Association Agreement with the EU and offered any help needed in the realization of a full membership in the EU.

He pointed out that the potential and work force of Bosnia were very good, but that the global image of the country was still not satisfactory.

During the meeting it was emphasized that cooperation had to move from the giving and receiving stage to partnership relations. Komsic said that he was sure that Bosnia would soon become an integral part of the European Union.
