BOSNIAN FARMERS DISSATISFIED OVER REJECTION OF LAW SUPPORTING DOMESTIC PRODUCTION

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (August 1,2008) - The Bosnian Association of Farmers (UPBiH) said that SNSD, SDA, SBiH, both HDZ and PDP representatives, i.e. the representative block in power that had promised farmers that the entities would increase the competitive power of farmers with monetary incentives and would save them from ruin under free trade conditions, had voted against support for domestic production in the Bosnian State Parliament earlier this week.

“It became obvious today that this story had no foundation because entity funds are being channeled to other areas”, reads the statement of the UPBiH.

The Bosnian State Parliament's House of Representatives rejected a draft bill on support for domestic production on Tuesday, which had been proposed by representative Jerko Ivankovic-Lijanovic.
