1.200 PIECES OF ILLEGAL WEAPONS DESTROYED IN BANJA LUKA

BANJA LUKA, Bosnia (August 4th,2008) - 1.200 pieces of gathered weapons in the operation called “Harvest” were destroyed last week in the Banja Luka factory “Jelsingrad”.

Members of the Bosnian Army and the European Union Force in Bosnia (EUFOR) participated in delivery, control and destroying of the illegal weapons.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) organized this action as a part of the project of control of small weapons in Bosnia.

105 incidents were caused by the usage of weapons happened in first 6 months of this year in Bosnia. 22 persons got killed in these incidents, 33 were wounded, and the illegal weapons were used in 11 armed robberies.
