TADEUSZ MAZOWIECKI RECEIVED AN HONORARY DOCTORAT FROM UNIVERSITY OF TUZLA

TUZLA, Bosnia (October 8,2007) – Former Prime Minster of Poland and the former UN Commission for Human Rights Envoy Tadeusz Mazowiecki received an honorary doctorat from the University of Tuzla.

This sign of respect is only a token of gratitude for the man who truly raised his voice against the genocide in Bosnia and who resigned the position of the UN Envoy because of the International Community’s policy towards Bosnia.

”The size of the tragedy I witnessed in Bosnia exceeded my expectations. All the events of the time, especially in Srebrenica had an impact on me. I had felt personally defeated”, Mazowiecki said.

He stated that he would act the same way today and added that not much has changed since in the International Community’s mechanism. One cannot be certain that the International Community will successfully prevent possible followers of the crime perpetrators from the genocide in Bosnia, nor punish them righteously.
