SCHMUNK: EU WILL NOT BE A NEW KIND OF OHR IN BOSNIA

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (June 26,2008) – The European Union is not, and it will not be a kind of a new Office of the International Community's High Representative in Bosnia (OHR) since the authorities of this office differ from the authorities of the EU and the special representative, said in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo the German Ambassador to Bosnia Michael Schmunk.

He, in his inaugural addressing at the round table "Bosnia and the contradictions of the process of the EU integrations", that gathered the representatives of the International community, civil society and Bosnian political life, talked about misunderstanding of the process of the European integrations that are present in Bosnia.

- EU did not have nor will have something similar to the "Bonn conclusions", explained Ambassador Schmunk at the meeting organized by the Office of the German Foundation Heinrich Boll in Bosnia.

He pointed out that some Bosnian political leaders still believe that Bosnia should not accept and implement EU norms and standards and that Bosnia is in position to change these norms.

-That is a wrong perception, Ambassador Schmunk said, stressing that Bosnia, once it enters the EU can try to change this legal acquis.
