BOSNIA AND PAKISTAN TO SIGN FREE TRADE AGREEMENT

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (April 21,2008) – The Bosnian President Dr Haris Silajdžić met with Jauhar Saleem, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Bosnia.During the meeting, the Ambassador of Pakistan was interested in the current phase of the Free Trade Agreement between Bosnia and Pakistan, which would enhance the economic cooperation between the two countries.

President Silajdžić assured him that he would make efforts to see the Bosnian Council of Ministers submitting the mentioned Agreement for adoption in accordance with the set procedure to the Bosnian State Presidency as soon as possible.

During the meeting, the Pakistan Ambassador also reminded about the request to designate a construction location for the Pakistan Embassy building to Bosnia, which was submitted to the competent institutions back in 1994, with a reciprocity condition and an obligation for Pakistan to ensure a construction location for the Bosnian Embassy in Pakistan.

He also said Pakistan supported the progress of Bosnia toward the European Union and that the European Union was the greatest partner for Pakistan in economic cooperation; trough integration, Bosnia and Pakistan could intensify cooperation in the economic field.

The Bosnian President Haris Silajdžić received an invitation to visit the Islamic Republic of Pakistan which he gladly accepted.
