RETRIAL OF SERBIAN WAR CRIMINAL MARKO SAMARDZIJA ENDS

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (October 15,2008) - The retrial of Serbian war criminal Marko Samardzija for war crimes against Bosnian civilians committed in the western Bosnian town of Kljuc,during the 1992-1995 Serbian aggression against Bosnia, has been completed.

Presentation of evidence before the Appellate Chamber of the Bosnian State Court has been completed with the additional examination of the indictee.The presentation of closing arguments is due today.

The Bosnian State Prosecutor charges Serbian war criminal Marko Samardzija, as former member of the genocidal paramilitary fascist formations of the Serbians living in Bosnia (VRS), with having participated in the deportation and murder of a large number of Bosnian civilians from Brkici and Balagica Brdo hamlets, in Kljuc Municipality.

The Bosnian State Court pronounced a first instance verdict against Serbian war criminal Marko Samardzija, sentencing him to 26 years in prison for these crimes. However, in May 2007 the verdict was revoked and a retrial was ordered.

During the course of the retrial audio recordings of the hearings held before the first instance Chamber were heard. Some new pieces of evidence were presented and the indictee was additionally examined. He began his testimony at the last hearing, held on September 29.

During his testimony Serbian war criminal said that he would have "stopped the murders committed in front of the school building in the Bosnian village of Biljani, had I known about them".

The Bosnian State Prosecutor charges that Samardzija ordered all Bosnian civilians to leave their houses in Biljani on July 10, 1992. After that they were taken to the local school building, in which they were detained and mass murdered by the genocidal Serbian fascist aggressor.

"I did not know that those murders were going to happen. I found out about them the following day. When I took the civilians to the school in Biljani, I though that they were going to be examined about weapons and given movement permits," Samardzija said, adding that about 40 Bosnian civilians were killed in the vicinity of the school building.

Serbian war criminal said he thought that the Bosnian civilians, who were transferred to the Manjaca concentration camp, "would not be killed".

Serbian war criminal Marko Samardzija also said that he "was apprised of the incidents, which had happened in the Biljani area prior to July 10, 1992," but he could not assume that "something bad was going to happen on that date".

TRIAL OF SERBIAN WAR CRIMINAL RADOMIR VUKOVIC BEGINS

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (October 6,2008) - At the plea hearing before the Section I for War Crimes of the Bosnian State Court of Bosnia in the case of Serbian war criminal Radomir , the accused pleaded not guilty on Friday. Serbian war criminal Radomir Vuković is charged with the criminal offense of Genocide,the Bosnian State Court said.

As stated in the Indictment, there is grounded suspicion that as a member of the genocidal Serbian fascist aggressor's formations, during the period from 10 to 19 July 1995, with the intent to partly exterminate a group of Bosnian people, Serbian war criminal Radomir Vuković participated in a joint criminal enterprise with the aim of forcibly removing around 40 thousand Bosnian civilians from the UN Safe Area Srebrenica and mass murdering of more than 10,000 Bosnian civilians from Srebrenica.

According to the Indictment, on 12 July 1995,during the Serbian aggression against Bosnia, Serbian war criminal Radomir Vuković participated in the search of Bosnian villages around Potočari aiming to expel Bosnians from them to the territories controlled by the Bosnian Army.

As further stated in the Indictment, Serbian war criminal Radomir Vuković participated in the illegal detention of thousands of Bosnian civilians from the eastern Bosnian town of Srebrenica.

On 13 July 1995,Serbian war criminal Radomir Vuković also participated in escorting a column of more than a thousand of illegaly detained Bosnian civilians from the Bosnian village of Sandići to the warehouse of the Kravice Farming Cooperative, knowing that they would be mass murdered.

On the same day,the genocidal Serbian fascist aggressor murdered some 1,500 Bosnian civilians by firing from automatic weapons and by throwing hand grenades on them.

SERBIAN WAR CRIMINAL RADOVAN KARADZIC’S ARREST HIGHLIGHTS PSYCHIATRY’S HISTORY OF "ETHNIC CLEANSING" AND GENOCIDE

LOS ANGELES, USA (August 12,2008) - U.S. - based psychiatric watchdog, Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) says the recent capture (7/21/2008) of former leader and creator of the genocidal Serbian creature in Bosnia "RS",Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic will bring to justice a psychiatrist whose genocide of thousands was reminiscent of Nazi psychiatric crime during World War II, and that few people are aware that the “ethnic cleansing” — ridding a geographical area of racially “inferior” people,carried out in Bosnia,during the 1992-1995 Serbian aggression against Bosnia and later in Kosovo, was based on the same psychiatric-inspired "racial hygiene programs" that led to the Nazi Holocaust.

In 1992, CCHR formally submitted to the World Psychiatric Association, the World Federation for Mental Health and the Mental Health Division of the World Health Organization information concerning the psychiatric atrocities committed in the former Yugoslavia.

CCHR presented the same information about psychiatry’s role in initiating and conducting the “ethnic cleansing” atrocities in Bosnia to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights.

On September 1, 1999, members of the Council of Europe signed a Resolution, “Human suffering and degradation following ethnic cleansing,” that recognized the two psychiatrists as the architects of the "ethnic cleansing" campaign in Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia.

The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) indicted Serbian war criminal Karadzic in absentia in 1995 for genocide over the 43-month siege of the Bosnian capital Sarajevo that claimed 12,000 lives and orchestrating the 1995 mass murder of some 10,000 Bosnian civilians in the eastern Bosnian town of Srebrenica. Dr. Edward Klain, a psychiatrist, features in a CCHR documentary, Psychiatry: An Industry of Death, detailed how in Nazi Germany it was “technically very difficult” to exterminate six million Jews. Concentration camps and gas chambers need to be established. In Bosnia, hatred and crimes against inhumanity were incited through propaganda: “Serbs would massacre, for example, one hundred to two hundred people. Or rape one hundred women, or one hundred girls, so that they would be terrorized so that they flee. Then you get an ethnically pure land,” Klain said.

CCHR’s evidence showed that Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic had trained under former Social Democratic Party (SDP) founder, psychiatrist,Serbian war criminal Jovan Raskovic. Before his death in 1992, Raskovic told Belgrade television and Vjesnik newspaper that he and his party had “lit the fuse of Serbian nationalism” with Freudian principles about inferiority and superiority.

Serbian war criminal Jovan Raskovic was talking about his and Karadzic’s propagation that Croatians were “fixated on the castration complex,” a Freudian principle, while Bosnians were domineering. Serbians, they said, possessed “the qualities of authority” and were destined leaders, while Croatians and Bosnians were the lesser races that needed to be eliminated. The fascist Serbian psychiatrist pushed his Freudian-based theories on the races of Yugoslavia in his book Luda Zemja (A Mad Country) and as part of a media campaign in which he was hailed as the greatest psychiatrist and scientist of his era.

“I feel responsible because I made the preparations for this war, even if not the military preparations. If I hadn’t created this emotional strain in the Serbian people, nothing would have happened,” ,Serbian fascist psychiatrist Jovan Raskovic stated.

Other evidence presented to the Hague Tribunal and Council of Europe was that former Serbia's President,Serbian war criminal Slobodan Milosevic, had been a patient of Serbian fascist psychiatrist Radovan Karadzic’s for 25 years. Together, he and Karadzic established "the ethnic cleansing program" and allowed the mass torture, rape and extermination of the innocent,during the Serbian aggressions against Bosnia,Croatia and Kosovo in the 1990's.

CCHR said justice can be served now that the architect of the "ethnic cleansing" in Bosnia has been captured, unlike in Nazi Germany where dozens of psychiatrists responsible for sterilization and genocidal crimes escaped trial and returned to practice in Germany and other countries around the world.

Like Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic, Ernst Rudin was a psychiatrist who played a major role in setting the stage for the Holocaust. Rudin was president of the International Federation of Eugenic Organizations and world leader of the eugenics movement which sought to remove “inferior” individuals from society by segregation, sterilization, or death in order to create a “better” race. In 1933 Rudin was chosen by Hitler’s Reich Ministry to lead Germany’s racial purity program. Rudin would later publicly praise Hitler for making his “more than thirty-year-old dream a reality” by imposing “racial hygiene” upon the German people.

CCHR President, Jan Eastgate said, “Responsibility exists on all levels, and while the atrocities of 'ethnic cleansing' and genocide are usually what capture our attention, it is important to recognize the ideology that spawns them and to hold those responsible for this to account.”

TRIAL OF SERBIAN WAR CRIMINAL MOMIR SAVIC STARTS BEFORE BOSNIAN STATE COURT

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (August 12,2008) - The trial of Serbian war criminal Momir Savic has started today before the Section I for War Crimes of the Bosnian State Court. Serbian war criminal Momir Savić is charged with the criminal offence of Crimes against Humanity committed during the 1992-1995 Serbian aggression against Bosnia.

According to the charges in the Indictment, Serbian war criminal Momir Savić, as the member of an undetermined paramilitary formation at the time when the Užice Corps of the former "Yugoslav People's Army" (JNA) launched its operations against Bosnia, and later as a member of the genocidal paramilitary formations of the Serbians living in Bosnia ("VRS"), during the period April through September 1992, he carried out persecution, murders, imprisonment, rapes, torture and other inhumane acts directed against Bosnian civilians in the area of Višegrad municipality in the eastern Bosnia.

Among other things, it is stated in the Indictment that Serbian war criminal Momir Savić, on 29 April 1992, in a group together with several Serbian fascist aggressor's soldiers, in the Bosnian village of Meremišlje, took part in the torture of four Bosnian civilians, as well as in plundering and burning down of the houses of two Bosnian civilians.

Further, the Indictment reads that Serbian war criminal Momir Savić, on 23 May 1992, in a group with several other Serbian fascist aggressor's soldiers, in the settlement of Drinsko, took ten Bosnian civilians out of their houses. Afterwards, these Bosnian civilians were tortured and taken to the hill “Kik”, in the so-called “Pušni Do” forest, were they were murdered by the genocidal Serbian fascist aggressor.

Further, on 25 May 1995, it is stated in the Indictment,Serbian war criminal Momir Savić, together with other Serbian fascist aggressor's soldiers, participated in the torture of detained Bosnian civilians. On the same occasion, Serbian war criminal Momir Savić, when one Bosnian civilian tried to run away, shot at him from a firearmes and murdered him.

During the period from 7 June 1992 until the end of September 1992, as stated in the Indictment,one Bosnian woman was raped numerous times by Serbian war criminal Momir Savić.

BOSNIAN PRESIDENT HARIS SILAJDZIC: CAPTURE OF SERBIAN WAR CRIMINAL RADOVAN KARADZIC IS A GREAT DAY FOR BOSNIA

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (July 24,2008) - The arrest of Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic will be marked as a great day for Bosnia, the Bosnian President Haris Silajdzic said in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo.President Silajdzic, in his first reaction on Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic’s arrest, said in his statement for the Bosnian state television (BHT) that it has been shown that the justice still can be reached, but he has also warned that Serbian war criminal Ratko Mladic is still at large.

The Bosnian President Haris Silajdzic said that it must not be allowed that the project of those two Serbian war criminals still lives in Bosnia, and by this he meant on the consequences of genocide they are responsible for.

"This is at least some satisfaction for the families of the genocide victims.The justice, however, cannot be complete without the arrest of Ratko Mladic," President Silajdzic said.

Although he had been skeptical about the prospects for Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic's arrest, he said that his belief in justice has been restored.

The Bosnian President Haris Silajdzic also said that the arrest of Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic will contribute to justice, peace and stability in Bosnia as well as catharsis in the genocidal Serbia.

ICTY WELCOMES ARREST OF SERBIAN WAR CRIMINAL RADOVAN KARADZIC

THE HAGUE, The Netherlands (July 24,2008) - The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) welcomes the arrest of Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic and looks forward to his prompt transfer to the Tribunal in The Hague in order to stand trial,the ICTY said.

Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic has been charged by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) with genocide, extermination, murder, deportation, inhumane acts, and other crimes against Bosnian civilians during the 1992-1995 Serbian aggression against Bosnia.

The ICTY Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz has also welcomed the arrest of Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic, it was announced by the ICTY.

"I have been informed by my colleagues from Belgrade on the successful operation that resulted in arrest of Radovan Karadzic. On the behalf of the Prosecutor’s Office, I congratulate to the Serbian authorities, especially the National Security Council, Serbian action team in charge of searching after the fugitives and the prosecutor’s Office for the war crimes on undertaking this big step in cooperation with the Tribunal," the ICTY Chief Prosecutor Brammertz said

He pointed out that this is a very important day for the Bosnian genocide victims that have waited for the arrest of Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic for more than a decade.

He also added that this is a big day for justice since it clearly demonstrates that no one is beyond law and that all fugitives from justice will be, sooner or later, arrested.

The date of Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadžić’s transfer into the Tribunal’s custody will be determined in due course.

LAJCAK WELCOMES ARREST OF SERBIAN WAR CRIMINAL RADOVAN KARADZIC

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (July 24,2008) - The International Community's High Representative and EU Special Representative in Bosnia, Miroslav Lajčák, has welcomed the long awaited arrest of Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic, since 1995 indicted by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) on charges of genocide, crimes against humanity and other war crimes committed during the 1992-1995 Serbian aggression against Bosnia.

“The news that Radovan Karadzic has been arrested is positive for Bosnia and for the whole region. This arrest proves that justice reaches everyone. Nobody is untouchable. Although two indictees, Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic, still remain at large, the arrest of Karadzic can be viewed as the beginning of the end of the most tragic chapter in Bosnia’s modern history,” Lajčák said.

He said that although justice in the Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic case has been delayed it has not been denied.

“Karadzic’s continuing liberty has been an affront to justice and a challenge to the domestic and international legal systems, but justice will now take its course – and that is a matter of the greatest political importance and respect not just for the people of Bosnia but for all of us.”

Lajčák described Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic’s arrest as “a matter of the integrity of the rule of law” and he said it offered “fresh impetus to the region’s long march to postwar recovery and European integration.

The officials of the European Union already announced that the arrest of Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic will have positive consequences concerning the EU integration process of the region.”

The International Community's High Representative and EU Special Representative in Bosnia noted that Bosnia in 2008 is a very different country from the one in 1996.

“The arrest of Radovan Karadzic will help the people of Bosnia to turn from past to the future and focus on the challenges they face today,” he concluded.

Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic, former political leader of the Serbians living in Bosnia, was allegedly arrested Monday in a Belgrade suburb.

Photographs apparently taken in the past few years show him with long white hair with a black streak in the middle, a flowing white beard and large glasses.

The editor of Belgrade's "Healthy Life" magazine, Goran Kojic,said Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic,using his false name, was even a regular contributor to the publication.

"It never even occurred to me that this man with a long white beard and hair was Karadzic," Kojic said.

During the 1992-1995 Serbian aggression against Bosnia, Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic masterminded the infamous "siege of Sarajevo." He has been charged by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) with genocide, extermination, murder, deportation, inhumane acts, and other crimes against Bosnian civilians.

On Tuesday morning, Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic was questioned and ordered to be deported to The Hague.However, his lawyers have three days to appeal the ruling.

"This tribunal welcomed and was very happy to hear about Karadzic's arrest yesterday in Serbia and we are ready and hopeful he is transferred to The Hague detention facilities as soon as possible," Nerma Jelacic, of the International War Crimes Tribunal, said.

Among the worst crimes Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic is charged with is the mass murder of some 10,000 Bosnian civilians in the eastern Bosnian town of Srebrenica in July 1995 - the largest massacre in Europe since the Second World War.

If Karadzic's extradition is approved, he will still have the opportunity to appeal the ruling - a move that could delay his transfer by days or weeks.

Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic was nabbed in a raid in a Belgrade suburb after police monitored his behaviour for weeks. However, other reports said he was arrested Friday while waiting for a bus.

"He just said that these people showed him a police badge and than he was taken to some place and kept in the room. And that is absolutely against the law what they did," his lawyer Sveta Vujacic said.

In response to his arrest, Bosnians jammed the streets of the Bosnian capital Sarajevo early Tuesday in celebration. Not even an unseasonal thunderstorm and cloudburst could dampen their celebrations.

When word came through that Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic had been arrested in Belgrade on foot of a warrant from the war crimes tribunal in The Hague, hundreds of Sarajevans took to the streets of their still battered and bruised city and celebrated into the small hours.

The thunder and rain came at about 11pm on Monday - about the same time that news filtered through that Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic had been caught. Hundreds took to the streets of Sarajevo and converged on Freedom Square honking horns, cheering and shouting their joy until well after 3am.

Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic, a Montenegro-born psychiatrist of humble origin,together with Serbian war criminal Ratko Mladic inflicted unfathomable horrors on the Bosnian capital Sarajevo, as well many other parts of Bosnia and parts of Croatia.

Indicted for multiple war crimes, the pair evaded arrest for 13 years. While Mladic remains at large, Karadzic can expect shortly to be in The Hague.

Ernad Deni Comaga (21),an activist with Bosnia's Democratic Youth Movement, was happy at the turn of events: "It is like a little piece of freedom come back into Bosnia."

Irena Cetin was more circumspect, still bearing personal scars from the Serbian 43-month siege and shelling of Sarajevo during the 1992-1995 Serbian aggression against Bosnia. "There is no justice here," she said. "This will not change anything." Like many Sarajevans, her background is ethnically mixed - her mother was an orthodox Christian, her father a Roman Catholic. Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic, she said, was responsible for "everything that happened to me".

"I lost my father," she explained. "We went to find some trees [ during the siege]. I was with him when the grenade exploded. He was killed and so were others but I was the only one not hurt by it." That was in August 1993, and there is a tear now in her left eye. She turns away.

Analysts with the European Union Force in Bosnia (EUFOR) are monitoring reaction but are hopeful there will not be any backlash in the genocidal Serbian creature in bosnia "RS".

"There's always a danger there could be a backlash from the right-wing chetnik [ extreme Serbian fascist] element," said one analyst, "but on a scale of one to 10, I'd rate it around one or two."

Many Sarajevans look back on the war and remember that no one came to help them as they were being bombed from the hills above the city or picked off by the genocidal Serbian aggressor's snipers. They have few expectations.

"Is this possible?" asked Minka, a pensioner, hurrying to the market yesterday. "I simply cannot believe it."

"Whatever lies behind his arrest is now unimportant," said Monja Matovic (24). "The arrest itself is significant for all of us who have been through the war and suffering." A flag draped around his shoulders, Ernad Deni Comaga looks to the future, to recreating the multi-ethnic Sarajevo that used to be.

"Justice will be done for all of us in Bosnia when all the people around the world, the people who left, who are in exile, come back here - Bosnian, Serbian people and Croatian people - when they all come back home and live together without hate and violence."

Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic's arrest and trial at The Hague is a major condition for the genocidal Serbia's European Union membership.

"What's significant here is that it's the Serbian government itself that has arrested him and is surrendering him to the tribunal," Payam Akhavan, a former war crimes prosecutor at The Hague, said.

He called it "a good day for international justice" and said the arrest sends a strong message to other tyrannical leaders that war criminals will be brought to justice.

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (16 July,2008) - EU peacekeeping troops have raided the apartment of Ljiljana Karadzic, the wife of former leader of the Serbians living in Bosnia,Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic who is charged by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) with genocide and other war crimes committed during the 1992-1995 Serbian aggression against Bosnia Radovan Karadzic.

The raid was carried out on Tuesday early morning at 0530 CEST (0330 GMT), in the Bosnian town of Pale some 18 kilometres east of the Bosnian capital Sarajevo.

The search, carried out by the European Union Force in Bosnia (EUFOR) was ordered by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, ICTY.

During the raid, EUFOR seized documents and materials as clues in revealing the whereabouts of Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic, EUFOR said in its statement, saying it will continue to search for war crimes suspects until they all face justice.

SERBIAN WAR CRIMINAL JOVAN OSTOJIC ARRESTED IN BOSNIA

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (March 1,2008) – On the basis of arrest warrant issued by the Bosnian State Prosecutor’s Office, Serbian war criminal Jovan Ostojic (53), suspected of crimes against humanity, was arrested in the northern Bosnian cit of Banja Luka on Thrusday, Boris Grubesic, the Bosnian State Prosecutor’s Office Spokesperson said.

Serbian war criminal Jovan Ostojic has been suspected of war crimes committed against Bosnian civilians in the Bosanska Krupa area in 1992,during the Serbian aggression against Bosnia.

The suspect will be extradited to the Bosnian State Prosecutor’s Office in the legal time frame and will be submitted to the Bosnian State Court for determining detention measures.

Serbian war criminal Jovan Ostojic was arrested by members of War Crimes Investigation Centre, the Banja Luka Office, in cooperation with the Bosnian State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA).

BOSNIAN STATE COURT FINDS SERBIAN WAR CRIMINALS MITAR RASEVIC AND SAVO TODOVIC GUILTY OF WAR CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (February 29,2008) – The Bosnian State Court sentenced yesterday Serbian war criminal Mitar Rasevic to eight and a half years and Serbian war criminal Savo Todovic to twelve years of imprisonment for war crimes committed against Bosnian civilians during the 1992-1995 Serbian aggression against Bosnia at the Foca concentration camp.

The Bosnian State Court announced Serbian war criminals Mitar Rasevic and Savo Todovic are guilty of crimes against humanity committed at the concentration camp in the eastern Bosnian town of Foca and sentenced them to eight and a half and twelve and a half years imprisonment respectively.

They were also found guilty of having participated in joint criminal enterprise.

The time they have spent in custody will be credited towards their sentence. Rasevic has been in custody since August 2003 and Todovic since January 2005.

Serbian war criminals Todovic and Rasevic, between April 1992 to October 1994, participated in the mistreatment of more than 700 Bosnian civilians at the Foca concentration campnnnnnj. Rasevic was commander of guards, while Todovic was deputy commander of the concentration camp.

The announcement of the verdict started with an hour and a half delay. Upon his arrival to the courtroom, Trial Chamber Chairman Hilmo Vucinic said the delay was "just proof" that the three-day legal deadline "was not sufficient for these type of decisions."

The Bosnian State Court announced the two Serbian war criminals guilty of all counts in the indictment, but it acquitted them of the charges contained in two sub-counts, which charged them with having maintained the system of mistreatment of Bosnian civilians in the Foca concentration camp and with having ordered the guards to torture and murder detained Bosnian civilians.

According to the Trial Chamber, on the basis of the presented pieces of evidence it can be determined that the indictees were "aware of their positions and of all the happenings in the Foca concentration camp".

"Most of the witnesses were the foca concentration camp survivors. The Chamber is aware of the fact that they were not eyewitnesses to these events, but it decided to admit their statements, as they suffered incrimination and because their statements were more or less the same," Vucinic said.

Chairman Vucinic also emphasised that, when considering the severity of the sentence, the Chamber "especially considered the mitigating circumstances" for Rasevic although he did not say which circumstances he was referring to.

"The eight and a half years sentence can fully serve the purpose of punishment. Concerning Serbian war criminal Savo Todovic, the Bosnian State Court determined that the twelve and a half years sentence is adequate bearing in mind the severity of the crime," Vucinic said.

The Defence attorneys of the two indictees said that they intended to file an appeal, as they were not content with the verdict.

The two Serbian war criminals were originally indicted by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia at The Hague. In October 2006, as part of the ICTY's exit strategy, this case was referred to Bosnia for further processing.

In early 2007 the Bosnian State Court confirmed the amended indictment against Serbian war criminals Mitar Rasevic and Savo Todovic.

TRIAL OF SERBIAN WAR CRIMINAL NOVAK DJUKIC TO BEGIN ON MARCH 11

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (February 28,2008) – Trial in the case against Serbian war criminal Novak Djukic, accused of war crimes against Bosnian civilians will begin on March 11, the Bosnian State court announced on Tuesday at the status conference.

The Bosnian state Prosecutor's Office alleges that, during the 1992-1995 Serbian aggression against Bosnia, on May 25, 1995, in the capacity of Commander of the genocidal paramilitary formations of the Serbians living in Bosnia (VRS), Serbian war criminal Novak Djukic ordered the genocidal Serbian aggressor's soldiers, located on Cerovo Brdo, Vrbak village at the mountain of Ozren, to fire a missile at a location in the centre of the eastern Bosnian city of Tuzla known as „Tuzlanska Kapija.“

As a result of the explosion of the missile, 71 Bosnian civilians were killed while 240 sustained injuries.Tuzla was declared a safe zone by a Resolution of the United Nations Secutiy Council issued on May 6, 1993.

Serbian war criminal Novak Djukic was arrested last year in the northern Bosnian city of Banja Luka by the Bosnian State Investigation and Protection Agency’s (SIPA).

Indictment against Serbian war criminal was raised on December 27,2007. It was confirmed bythe Bosnian State Court on January 4,2008.
