BOSNIAN PRESIDENCY MEMBER ZELJKO KOMSIC VISITED FRANCE

ARROMANCHE, France (June 10,2008) – Upon invitation of the French national committee for celebration of landing of the allies in Normandy during the World War 2, a member of the Bosnian Presidency Željko Komšić, as an honorary guest, attended the central celebration and the following activities.On that occasion, along with participation of the French and the British Minister for soldiers’ issues, he laid a wreath of the Bosnian Presidency at the British cemetery in Renville and paid his respects to all killed allies.Bosnian Presidency Member Željko Komšić attended the central ceremony of erecting the flags of nine allied countries, military honors and the parade of the French Army, as well as the special ceremony of paying respect to the Keiffer Commandos Unit that holds a special place in the history of the allied landing.

Komšić also briefly talked with the French and British Minister and cordially greeted the old warriors, high French figures, diplomats and military representatives of the allied countries.

Bosnian Presidency Member Željko Komšić also attended the special event of in Merryville and on that occasion, he will officially present the Dakota 43-15073 airplane – a gift of Bosnia to France.

The aircraft, built in 1944 in Long Beach, California,USA,was used to move troops to Normandy on D-Day.It was sold to the Czechoslovakian air fleet, when the World War II ended.In 1960, the plane was then sold to the France, which in 1973 sold it to Yugoslavia.

Throughout the 1992-1995 Serbian,Montenegrin and Croatian aggressions against Bosnia the plane stayed at the Bosnian Airbase in Rajlovac,near the Bosnian capital Sarajevo.

79 POLITICAL PARTIES AUTHORIZED FOR THE NEXT LOCAL ELECTIONS IN BOSNIA

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (June 10,2008) – The Bosnian Central Election Commission has finished the process of the checking and authorization of the political parties and independent candidates for participation on the next local elections.

79, out of 84 parties that have submitted their applications were authorized, said the President of the Bosnian Central Election Commission Maksida Bajramovic at the press-conference that took place in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo.

The Bosnian Central Election Commission has authorized 236 independent candidates for the regular councilor mandates and municipality mayor as well as 34 candidates for the representatives of minorities.

The first estimation, as far as the costs of the elections are concerned, was 11 million Bosnian Marks.But, the application of the changes of the election law regarding Srebrenica will cost additional 350.000 Bosnian Marks.

Additional funds for campaign of informing for the special rights of the Bosnian citizens from Srebrenica were promised by USAID, as well as the Embassies of the Netherlands and Sweden.

UNEMPLOYMENT DOWN IN BOSNIA

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (June 10,2008) - According to the Bosnian Employment Bureau there were 499,838 unemployed people in Bosnia by the end of April 2008, which was a monthly drop of 1.9 per cent.

Women make almost 50 per cent of the unemployed, and their number decreased by 1.16 per cent on the monthly level.

The unemployed who hold university degrees accounted for the smallest share of the registered unemployed people in Bosnia – 3.6 per cent.

BOSNIA AND SLOVENIA INITIAL ECONOMIC COOPERATION AGREEMENT

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (June 10,2008) - The Economic Cooperation Agreement between Bosnia and Slovenia was initialled in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo yesterday.

This Agreement aims to further economic cooperation between the two countries, on industrial and technological levels, as well as in all the other areas related to their economic and social development.

The focus of cooperation will be on agriculture, transport, telecommunications, healthcare, science, education, tourism, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, from local to regional, interstate and international levels.
