SKOPJE, Macedonia (January 4,2008) - The Macedonian Parliament approved unanimously yesterday the deployment of new contingent of Macedonian troops in the EU-led military operation in Bosnia EUFOR-ALTHEA.
The motion was backed by 80 votes. A total of 13 members of the Macedonian Army will take part in the EUFOR ALTHEA mission as of January this year.
The Macedonian Defense Minister Lazar Elenovski said the country will reduce the military contingent, i.e. the helicopter unit will take part with one instead of two helicopters.
The cause for reduction is the consolidation of helicopter units' capacities, Elenovski said.Macedonia currently participates with around 30 troops.
