79 POLITICAL PARTIES AUTHORIZED FOR THE NEXT LOCAL ELECTIONS IN BOSNIA

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (June 10,2008) – The Bosnian Central Election Commission has finished the process of the checking and authorization of the political parties and independent candidates for participation on the next local elections.

79, out of 84 parties that have submitted their applications were authorized, said the President of the Bosnian Central Election Commission Maksida Bajramovic at the press-conference that took place in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo.

The Bosnian Central Election Commission has authorized 236 independent candidates for the regular councilor mandates and municipality mayor as well as 34 candidates for the representatives of minorities.

The first estimation, as far as the costs of the elections are concerned, was 11 million Bosnian Marks.But, the application of the changes of the election law regarding Srebrenica will cost additional 350.000 Bosnian Marks.

Additional funds for campaign of informing for the special rights of the Bosnian citizens from Srebrenica were promised by USAID, as well as the Embassies of the Netherlands and Sweden.
