A RAPE VICTIM TESTIFIED BEFORE BOSNIAN STATE COURT AT TRIAL OF SERBIAN WAR CRIMINAL PREDRAG KUJUNDZIC

SARAJEVO, Bosnia (August 27,2008) - At the trial of Serbian war criminal Predrag Kujundzic before the Bosnian State Court, the Bosnian State Prosecutor examined today protected witness 2, a rape victim, with no presence of the public.

The Trial Chamber approved the Prosecution's motion, requesting the examination of protected witness 2 with no presence of the public.

The indictment states that Serbian war criminal Predrag Kujundzic was commander of a genocidal Serbian fascist paramilitary unit. He is charged with war crimes against Bosnian civilians, committed in the Doboj area, during the 1992-1995 Serbian aggression against Bosnia.

The indictment states that Serbian war criminal Predrag Kujundzic sexually abused protected witness 2 and kept her in slavery from June to December 1992, intimidating her by telling her that he would kill her mother and sister. The indictment further states that he imposed restrictions on the freedom of movement on witness 2, that he raped her and allowed other genocidal Serbian fascist aggressor's soldiers to rape her.

According to the indictment witness 2 was a minor at that time.

At the beginning of the hearing the Trial Chamber announced that Serbian war criminal Predrag Kujundzic filed a motion, asking for the disqualification of Trial Chamber Chairman Saban Maksumic, because he "distrusted his objectivity in this case" due to the fact that he was a judge with the Bosnian Military Court in Sarajevo in the course of the 1992-1995 Serbian aggression against Bosnia.

The Bosnian State Court declined the motion.
