SARAJEVO, Bosnia (May 8,2008) - Because of a reduced amount of locally-produced food and some new trends in the global market, Bosnia could face food shortages next autumn, the Secretary of the Bosnian Farmers Association Sead Jelec warns.
According to him, this means increased reliance on food imports, in times when food prices are going up.
"The national authorities are ignorant of the gloomy warnings coming from around the world", Jelec argues, adding that the prices of seeds, fertilizers and fuel have gone up by 60 to 80 per cent.
